The Nike Air VaporMax is the latest step in the journey of Nike Air that began in 1987 with the original Air Max and its groundbreaking visible air unit. With the VaporMax, no longer does the air unit have to be undergirded by a layer of rubber for the purposes of increased protection and durability. The outsole is integrated into the air unit into what Nike calls a “holistic VaporMax unit.” Elasticity implemented into the new air unit allows it to maintain its given form.

The aforementioned advancements have eliminated the need for a conventional foam midsole, which is designed to give the VaporMax greater flexibility while also cutting down weight. To further reduce the weight, a Flyknit upper was utilized on the VaporMax.
The VaporMax will release on AirMax Day, March 26,2017.
